The competition really heats up in September with the top 8 premiership teams slugging it out for a chance at finals glory. To really experience Melbourne, you simply have to go along to a finals game at the iconic MCG, (Melbourne Cricket Ground.) Don't miss a second of this year's finals action!

Spring Racing Carnival and Melbourne Cup Carnival
September 29th to 17th November 2010
The Spring Racing Carnival is a world class event showcasing thoroughbred racing, fashion and entertainment at its finest over 50 fabulous days across Victoria. The Spring Racing Carnival brings together an array of high-quality racing, heart pumping excitement and vibrant fashions. The BMW Caulfield Cup at Caulfield, Tatts Cox Plate at Moonee Valley and Emirates Melbourne Cup at Flemington are the highlight events of the carnival.

Tim Burton Exhibition
Until October 10th 2010
Showing as part of the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces is this brand new, unique retrospective exhibition direct from the Museum of Modern Art, in New York. This Australian exclusive, Tim Burton: The Exhibition, is a fascinating glimpse into one of the film world's most creative minds.
Exhibiting at the ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image), it explores his entire career and will be one of the largest contemporary exhibitions ever held in the ACMI's Gallery. Featuring over 700 works it includes drawings, paintings, costumes and puppetboards, curated in direct collaboration with Burton himself.
Melbourne Fringe Festival

The Melbourne Fringe Festival celebrates the fresh, the innovative and the ground-breaking in all aspects of the arts. It is the most exciting explosion of independent creativity that Melbourne sees each year. If you want to take the pulse of one of Australia’s most culturally engaged cities, this is the time and place to do it.
In 2009, over 4000 independent artists created over 300 shows that took over theatres, pubs, bars, galleries and public spaces across the city. The work produced is cutting-edge, professional, and always exciting, and ranges from circus to visual arts, cabaret to dance, theatre to comedy. Many of Australia’s finest talents, including Lano and Woodley, Barrie Kosky, Santo Cilauro, Rachel Berger, Rachel Griffiths, Tiddas, Julia Zemiro and Sammy J have experimented with new ideas in Melbourne Fringe.
Royal Melbourne Show

West Side Story - Regent Theatre
